I make no bones about it, I have never and will never vote labour, but saying that although I was never a Blair - ite I did however not mind him that much, he talked a good talk, and apart from being far too far up George Bushes Ar** and obviously setting himself up for a very happy retirement with Cherie who seemed less trustworthy than any politician ever, he was not bad.

I do however find his appearance now a complete joke, when you see the likes of Bill Clinton coming out in support you think "great theres Bill", he was liked by the public and he had to step down as he had served all the terms he could, Tony, Tony, well well Tony, you stepped down when you wanted to, leaving us with Brown, an unelected Prime Minister who has still not faced a General Election, you then watch him change policies straight away, well, enough to make me believe that the Blair administration had it all totally wrong, then you turn up in support of your replacement in the weeks leading up to a general election when you are still in reality the man who the public voted for who should be stepping down NOW not then and putting the parties to the sword to see who comes up smelling of Roses so to speak, you walked away from this country, let the changes happen and now support it when you feel like it with a speach in your old constituency? Like Cameron said "Its nice to see him making a speach that no one is paying for", I suppose if you had a few bookings on the after dinner circuit or you had got a better position such as head of Europe? you probably would not have bothered this obvious PR exercise?

I just want to know, who are you promoting, Labour? or Tony Blair?

The announcement of Claudia Winkleman has reminded me of an ongoing irritaion of mine, gowing up in what I still see as great days of Radio 1 with DJ's like Gary Davis, Steve Wright then Simon Mayo, Our Tune, Simon Bates etc, I say great days not 'THE' great days as taday is great too with the like of Zane Low and Nihal ( not Jo Lisa i anson style name dropper wish i was as cool as Zane Low or John Peel Whiley ).

Thing is these Dj's were on radio, then while they changed and stayed there we had a seperate generation of VJ's on MTV, alongside a number of Kids TV presenters, chat show hosts, but to cut to the chase, we had a nice wide variety of attitudes and opinions from a selection of changing faces.

Now you turn on the radio and it Fearne Cotton presenting a show, switch on the TV and its Fearne Cotton presenting, turn over to MTV and its, well you get the idea. Now I like Fearne, please dont think this is about her as you cannot blame her capitalising on her popularity but a few years ago with the likes of Edith Bowman around the time after that god-awful channel for breakfast show (Thankfully it did give us Colin Murray) someone had the stupid notion that if a face works it works everywhere????? GIVE US SOME VARIETY!!!!

Personally I do not have a huge opimion on this, I used to watch Barry Norman because growing up he was best known to me for presenting Film 1984 and so and although Jonathan Ross was not a pure film critic he was a self proclaimed movie geek with a lot of knowledge that made you look up and listen.

The last time I saw Claudia Winkleman she was presenting Sport Relief, before that on a comedy chat show, before that something else, I do like watching her and she is very good at what she does, my wife does not share my views but that is based more on the fact she always seems to have way too much make up on her eyes and be squinting through her fringe (a womans view ;-O).

I have never listened to Winklemans Arts radio show and probably never will, If Film 2010 is on I may watch it but it has not been on my viewing radar for a long time, I get my movie news from James King on the radio and when I want a proper review I look up the legend that is 'Mark Kermode', for the simple reason that I have always found his comments suit mine and his reviews are honest and true to my likes and dislikes.

Just popped out for a loaf of bread and happened to catch a glimpse of the cover of one of those dire weekly/faults which said, Its War, quotes are close as I can remember!

Pregnant women who give up smoking should be given a £10-a-week "reward", according to a political think tank, why? or better yet if its going to happen, they had better introduce swab tests and anyone who fails has to pay it all back!, We are going soft as a society but this mentality that money solves everything does not help, the think tank says "whereby those on lower incomes suffer more ill health, which can largely be attributed to smoking" and "in particular reaching hard-to-reach groups like pregnant teenagers", I was in a shop the other week listening to an out of reach teenage mum on a lower/non-existant income saying and i quote:

"Yeah, soon as babies born i can get a bigger house, gettin loads of hand me downs so dont need me child grant for that, gonna go shopping get some new clothes and trainers"

Well done think tank, the teenagers are mocking you. A child is a ticket to a free house, a baby grant, a government income, the government and the taxpayer are paying for the cigarettes via benefits that they are smoking and now paying them money to stop! NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!! This does not apply to all but you get the idea and this problem is a lot bigger than you think!!

Facebook has told the Home Secretary it has "no objection" to introducing a panic button following criticism of the site after a sex attacker used it to make friends with a teenage he murdered.

YES, Facebook, MSN, Bebo etc etc have an obligation, but can they be held responsible? I have always has an issue with kids through to teenagers having laptops in their bedrooms out of the praying eyes of parents, I watched a programme this week regarding illegal downloads and the total lack of understanding that parents have with regards their childrens computer habits under their own roof! I use Facebook and it irritates me when I see kids on it as to me its more of an adult orientated Social Networking platform compared to MySpace but there is no age limit and these 'Oxygen Thieves' that pray on kids will be on whatever forum, networks that they need..

I am not saying that when these monsters pray on these kids and harm them whether verbally online or god forbid physically it is okay, I would string them up in public by their private parts and reinstate public floggings!! But families have a responsibility to keep kids safe and know whats going on, if your kids when asked subtly say nothing, be nosey, check there PC! Write to Microsoft telling them there new advert advertising secretive web surfing is adding to the problem, kids safety is more important than hiding an anniversary present! But most of all just be aware, there is no safety in IGNORANCE!!

Also ever heard of the boy that cried wolf or just sought attention, this panic button can be abused as well and mud sticks. The web and what it does continues to grow faster than those who need to put ideals in place, lets just hope they have a head in reality not just in there out of touch opinion based on a society they have not understood for 20 yrs.

Truly winds me up when I read in the papers that Alistair Darling has a plan to get the country out of this economic recession, he and Gordon Brown have agreed it and it will be unvieled at the next budget, WHATS WRONG WITH NOW!! If its that good it cannot wait until tomorrow let alonr the next budget. AH SILLY ME!, its more important to use it as propaganda in the race to No.10 against Cameron than actually use it for the good of the people!

Stood in the local mini supermarket, 2 tills running and one long feeder line that splits when a till becomes free, then some old bloke walks up to a till, stands behind the person being served and jumps the entire queue, did he think we were all stood there for FUN !!!!!!, similar, sat in a line at the petrol statio, a pump becomes free and the front car takes the space, so some old lady drives straight to the back of a direct pump queue, OF COURSE, we all wanted only pump 8, the other 11 pumps were not good enough for all of us waiting. Put the van in for an MoT, is a custom recreational (so to speak) VW van so it only did 5000 or so miles last year, needed a new tyre and had a split exhaust, ok thats what the noise was, i thought it was a loose heat sheild but so what? It also needed a washer jet, a tiny part but enough to fail the Mot, it took the main dealer three attempts to send the right part so i was without the van for a week. I picked the van up late, only to notice the next day that the heat resistant shield for the underside of the bonnet was on the floor of the cab along with the V shaped bolts rolling around and the custom bonnet bra was unsecured on the inside with the cord ties hangin into the engine, not to mention the bonnet was not closed properly, needless to say i am angry!

I saw no news today, and what i did see were snippets as my wife flicked so quickly on the interactive i could not get one full story!!

What really gets me is this, I have a daughter, we waited until we could afford to have a child until we could feed, cloth, provide a roof over her head etc, like our parents did! and if we could not afford to have a child we would not have. An 'aquaintance' had a child with her now ex-boyfriend she could not afford and got a 'council flat', she then met a guy and had another child and got moved to a bigger council flat, they then had another child and eventually got moved to a big 3 bedroom, now she is pregnant again! She married the guy, but he works a dead end job at minimum wage and they cannot afford there own place privately let alone 4 children, this is theft from the govenment as with child benefit, housing benefit, council tax benefit, and all the tax credits they cream off due to his low wage, this is as bad if not worse than MPs, a council life is there to help those less fortunate who fall on bad times, not one to abuse to pay for a life and a menagarie of kids, it is a privilege not a right and its about time the government or future government took this subject at hand and stopped wasting my hard earned wel paid tax on leeches like this!!
